August 2011 - ukcampsite
What a wonderful site! We had a lovely long weekend here with 24 other members of the family! Love the way we camp round the edge of the field and the middle is for use of cricket, rounders, football, rugby, badminton etc.
The sanitary facilities are very clean - it is 50p per 3 minutes in the shower but in fact you can get 2 children washed and almost yourself on one token. The local pub in Aylburton (The Cross) was brilliant and very accommodating.
As the name suggests it is a hill and the top of the hill is by far the flattest place to camp (pitches 1-5). It is not like other sites where the pitches are regimented but very free to pitch pretty much how you like. Gazebos are ok and no extra cost.
They have only one price through the year and also the facility to use braziers and wood to sit by in the evenings (£4-£5 per brazier and a bag of wood).
A lovely site managed by Teresa and her husband - highly recommend. It has become our number one site in the UK.

July 2011 - ukcampsite
We were on a long motorway journey and found this a lovely and convenient place to stop overnight. Since we were able to pay in advance by card on the phone, we didn't have to worry about arriving late, or leaving early, which took some stress off the journey.
We were a little put out at first to find we had to negotiate narrow uphill lanes for a mile or so to get to the site, but managed it thanks to some very clear directions from the farm's website.
The site turned out to be so green we were delighted. The owner was friendly, the toilet blocks clean and brand new. Just a word of warning though - they are unisex, which everyone might not like. Also, you have to remember to buy tokens for the showers. There are number of electric hookups at the site, and also a couple of 'pods' - basic wooden camping shelters - which looked new.
The location is supremely quiet and secluded, and you would never think it is close to busy traffic routes. Also, the site was fairly empty which added to the rural feel. We were able to go on a short walk down to some beautiful ponds before we left. It really felt like the start of the holiday.

This site is great!
It's just off the main route between Lydney and Chepstow, but you'd never know it whilst on site. There's a lovely log cabin shower and toilet block that's styled like a stable, but be aware the facilities are unisex!
The site is on the side/crest of a hill, but if you're careful you can find a flattish pitch. The middle is kept clear to allow children to play/relax in sight of any units and you won't find any crowding here! They've got some new camping pods on site which are very good quality and really nice inside, with a small electric kettle provided and futon style bedding, we went back the next weekend to try them out!
For me, one of the best things about this site are the owners. They have a young family and are very laid back and happy to help. Within no time at all you feel as though you belong there! They seem to have a good balance between allowing you some freedom, and not causing a nuisance to other people.
Oh, don't forget your frisbee. Looking forward to returning in 2012.
21st May 2011 - Terry and Mandy Davies
Lovely Spot - Enjoyed it - Very clean toilets, Thanks.
Wedding weekend
14th May 2011 - Rona, Rich, Sean + Efa - New Zealand
Thank you so much for letting us have our campsite wedding here. We had the most wonderful, special and magical day. The campsite + facilities are excellent, and all our camping guests commented on this. Walking back from the toilet block towards a glowing 'giant hat' tent was magical. We loved every minute and even the rain held off. Thanks for all your help.
What a great place! We've had a wonderful weekend. The 1st wedding to be held here . * A couple from Clevedon were actually the first to be wed and have become good friends - Teresa.

Great, clean campsite with great facilities!!! We would like to say a big thank you.
11th May 2011 - ukcampsite
Have just spent two nights at this excellent site. Everyone is pitched around the perimeter of a lovely large site so that the middle is left free for kids to play. Even though it was a bank holiday weekend we had loads of room and the owners certainly don't let the facility get over booked.
This is site where kids can get back to being kids, playing games, riding bikes, making new friends and exploring the wider site (separate woodland and fishing lake) if they wish.
You can't fault the shower/toilet block and we certainly didn't object to paying 50p per shower. There's a handy book/magazine swap facility some useful leaflets on the local area.
There's no shop on site however the local petrol station shop has everything you need or you can go into Lydney itself for supermarkets. The owners were very helpful when we asked for their advice on a couple of things.
Your stay can be as relaxed or adventurous as you wish. We took the kids kayaking on the River Wye at Symonds Yat and enjoyed the Sculpture Trail in the Forest of Dean. You can also venture into Wales at Monmouth (v.Nice town with Pizza Express, M&S Food, Waitrose and a good chippy) and enjoy the numerous castles the area has to offer.
If you're new to family camping or are fed up with overcrowded, rowdy sites then this place will suit you. If you want lots of facilities and want to party til midnight then this isn't the place for you! We though, will certainly return!
